A Palace for Jack: a new Melbourne Opera

A Palace for Jack proposed a new cultural complex across the colonial munitions store known as Jack’s Magazine located along the Maribyrong River. The project applied an archaeological method known as ‘reconnaissance’ to the site and the architectural icons of the Sydney Opera House and Forbidden City Beijing entangling them in a field of data. This approach to generating form considered the implications of the Chinese contributions to Victorian identity.
