Wharfing

This studio will investigate formal strategies to insert new spaces into the existing condition at Shed 2 North Wharf. We will experiment with techniques such as collision, warping, extruding, wrapping and intersecting to develop new spatial relationships between the site, wharf, existing shed structure, control tower and new public program.

There is much discussion as to what type of public space should occur at north wharf. This studio will lead this discussion not through program or contextual arguments but spatial and formal demonstrations. Through a variety of experimentation and operations we will work conceptually to interact with existing fabric to reveal it rather than preserve it.
