Tidelands
Bachelor of Architectural Design Studio, 2014

Tidelands is an investigation into the intersections between advanced architectural practices (generative systems/parametric articulations) and a critical mode of utopian thought. Tidelands is about the agency in advanced practice.
This semester, we are asking ‘can we code utopia?’
We will work with historically significant Utopian projects, analysing, iterating and critiquing them through procedural and generative lenses. The lessons and positions developed here will be applied to an Australian context, to frame an urban structure and a subsequent series of typological insertions into this fabric.
We are looking to leverage the powerful process of estrangement inherent in this kind of practice to generate new, critical utopian positions.
