CONGRATULATIONS TO PETER ELLIOTT RECIPIENT OF THE 2017 AIA GOLD MEDAL.
We congratulate Peter Elliot on this absolutely well-deserved honour.
The Gold Medal is the Australian Institute of Architects highest honour and recognises distinguished service by architects who have designed or executed buildings of high merit, produced work of great distinction resulting in the advancement of architecture or endowed the profession of architecture in a distinguished manner.
Peter has a long history with RMIT Architecture & Urban Design through his teaching, as an Adjunct Professor, Alumus of the early reflective practice Masters program (now the PRS) as well as through the practices design of buildings and urban spaces at RMIT (recently published in Episodic Urbanism: RMIT Urban Spaces Project 1996–2015).
The jury report notes that Peter is “distinguished by his capacity to navigate the complexities of public commissions with diplomacy and tact while ensuring that the highest design standards are sustained, his work extends beyond architecture into the realm of landscape and urban design.”
