The Triennale Design Museum is a section within the Triennale di Milano which is dedicated solely to Italian design. Every year the exhibition is renewed and focuses on a different aspect or period. In the 2013 exhibition entitled ‘Design: La Sindrome dell’ Influenza’ (The Influence Syndrome), Kovac was invited to exhibit his ‘Model Prototypes.’ The aim of the curated exhibition was to highlight the importance of influences and contaminations on Italian design, through acts of assimilation, curiosity and the desire to compete with other languages and cultures in order to start new projects and new processes.
Kovac’s exhibited models were outcomes of his ongoing research and innovation of digital fabrication techniques, demonstrating possibilities for scalable forms created solely by digital processes, applying architectural thinking and processes to product design. His models were expressions of the philosophy of design intent, through digital transfer, into prototype modelling as a production strategy, aiming to gain insight into scalable digital design processes and forms.
The exhibition was directed by Silvana Annicchiarico (director, Triennale Design Museum) and designed by Studio Cerri and Associati. Curated by Alessandro Mendini.
