Senator Honourable George Brandis QC has commended the Australia Felix Museum of Art, Culture and History (AFMACH) for their engagement with RMIT architecture and landscape architecture students in developing design concepts for a proposed future museum.
The AFMACH is a community group with the vision that Hamilton becomes a national and international centre for the arts, culture and history of South-west Victoria. In 2012 the AFMACH invited RMIT architecture and landscape architecture masters students under the leadership of Jan van Schaik (RMIT Architecture Lecturer) and Dr Charles Anderson (Senior Lecturer & Program Manager RMIT Masters of Landscape Architecture) to reimagine a city block within Hamilton to become a cultural precinct consisting of the new Felix Museum.
The student developed designs were reviewed in a public presentation and exhibition at the Hamilton Art Gallery November 2013.
