The principles of democracy remain as thickly coated as ever behind the inane soap operas of Australian politics. The media continues to fan the flames of these hysterical sideshows that see us more apathetic than ever, yet still endows upon itself a position of impunity in the whole rigmarole, which is a right bloody shame.

So come one, and come all. Bring your most outlandish friends and ethnically adventurous attitudes to Melbourne’s garden of ideas. This is not a palace of culture, nor an arena for sports. It is somewhere in between, a dubiously-scaled lounge room for this fair city.

Leave your political correctness on the bridge, for here difference is celebrated. And most importantly, take your time. The gumnut waits for everyone.
