all(zone) – Based in Bangkok, all(zone) is a group of design professionals who are fascinated by ever-changing mega metropolises that gives a form to their everyday life. Their observations are always captured by contemporary vernacular design solutions leading them to create built environments where all could feel ‘at home’ in the world. Their international participations are including those at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, Chicago Architecture Biennial, Vitra Design Museum and Triennale di Milano. all(zone) is included in the list of 100+ Best Architecture 2019 Firms complied by Domus.

The Art of Living Lightly – In a context where architecture stems from less solid materiality, architecture is no different from furniture or utensils. The vernacular house in a tropical climate allows us to live almost transparently in an environment soaking with lights and airs. Investigating our contemporary vernacular built environment, we try to propose an alternative architecture where modernism is embraced with a lesser degree of rigidity, solidity and transformations. With the rapidly changing social and environmental pressures, the built environment should be able to embrace additions and adaptations almost like an open platform of living.

Rachaporn Choochuey is here for the  Living Cities Forum in association with the Naomi Milgrom Foundation. The Living Cities Forum is being held Thursday, 23 May 2019 at Deakin’s Edge Federation Square. This RMIT event is part of the Master of Urban Design Program, Supertight and History of Asian Architecture and Urbanism.
