RMIT Architecture invites you to a free public lecture by LI HAN and HU YAN from Drawing Architecture Studio (DAS).

ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING PLUS

Founded in 2013 by RMIT Architecture alumnus and architect Li Han and designer Hu Yan in Beijing, Drawing Architecture Studio (DAS) is a creative platform integrating architecture, art, design, urban study and pop culture that aims to explore new models for the creation of contemporary urban culture.

Li Han and Hu Yan are at RMIT co-leading an RMIT Architecture elective course titled “Drawing Architecture Studio: Lost in Melbourne” with RMIT Architecture staff member Vicky Lam. Li Han and Hu Yan’s work is featured in the exhibition “SUPERTIGHT” at the RMIT Design Hub Gallery, open till 21 September 2019 . In this lecture titled “Architectural Drawing Plus,” they will discuss the potential of architectural drawing as a unique creation tool through an introduction to selected projects from their practice DAS.

DAS has exhibited widely in China and internationally including exhibitions in the Chinese Pavilion and Japan Pavilion of the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale, The 7th Shenzhen / Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism / Architecture, Architecture in Comic-Strip Form at The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, and many others. Winning the 2018 World Architecture Festival Architecture Drawing Prize in the Netherlands and the Second Place at 2016 RIBA Journal Eye Line Drawing Competition in the UK, DAS’ drawings are also among the permanent collection of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in the US. DAS’ publication includes A Little Bit of Beijing, A Little Bit of Beijing · Dashilar, Hutong Mushroom, and Chinese translation of Atlas of Novel Tectonics.
