MACHINE LEARNING FOR CREATIVE PRACTICE

12/08/17

RMIT Design Hub Level 3 Lecture Theatre

RMIT Architecture & Urban Design invites you to a public symposium:

MACHINE LEARNING FOR CREATIVE PRACTICE

Despite the accepted position within the discourse that advancements in deep learning technologies will significantly augment and disrupt design disciplines there has been relatively limited practical exploration of these technologies by architects. This symposium will provide a platform to discuss current experiments, goals, opportunities and barriers to employing machine learning within creative practice and generate debate around the broader implications and impact these technologies will have on architecture and design. Can neural networks exert some influence or agency within design processes and challenge long held beliefs regarding non-human creativity and design authorship?

Presentations and Provocations from:
Gene Kogan – ml4a
Jon McCormack – Sensilab
Jonathan Chang – Silverpond)
Gwyllim Jahn – RMIT A+D and panelists.

DATE: FRIDAY 8 DECEMBER, 5.00PM – 7.00PM
