CAMERON NEWNHAM & GWYLLIM JAHN : Design Techniques Lecture Series
05/24/17
RMIT Design Hub, Level 3, Lecture Theatre
As part of the Design Techniques Lecture Series, RMIT Architecture & Urban Design invites you to a free public lecture. This is the finale lecture for this series which will include an interactive demonstration of design and fabrication applications using the Hololens. Cameron Newnham + Gwyllim Jahn MIXED REALITY WORKSHOP This workshop examines how mixed reality technology enables the construction of complex and differentiated assemblages by replacing drawn documentation with 1:1 holographic templates. The workshop concludes the 2017 Design Techniques Lecture Series and will break from convention by inviting students and guests to participate in the construction of a timber prototype using the Microsoft Hololens. The process of designing surface geometry, rationalising for material and fabrication constraints, streaming data to the Hololens and using this data to guide an adhoc and adaptive approach to construction will be demonstrated as a complete workflow. DATE: Wednesday 24 May 2017 TIME: 6:30PM LOCATION: RMIT Design Hub, Level 3, Lecture Theatre Building 100, Corner Victoria and Swanston Street, Melbourne, Vic, 3000
