RMIT Architecture & Urban Design is very proud to support AGENCY2017 organised by the Australasian Student Architecture Congress (ASAC).

This year’s congress will see approximately 400 students from all over Australasia designing, debating and learning through a week long community congress. Central to AGENCY2017 will be a series of events including: workshops, design/build studios, lectures and debates. Agency will be attended by invited academics, designers, architects and students from around the world.

The theme of this year’s congress is centered around the AGENCY of architecture – the capacity for the next generation of designers to act amidst the ever elusive Australasian dream of homeownership, where a building is both a means of shelter and wealth creation. AGENCY2017 will aim to address architectural education, start-up cultures, question the “visual aesthetic”, myth-bust pre-conceptions of property development and share insights into the dark matter that shapes to education, planning and regulation policy. AGENCY2017 will be a provocation, a celebration and a call to arms.
