Kerstin Thompson Architects (KTA) was established in 1994 by Kerstin Thompson.

The work of the practice encompasses architecture, interiors, landscape and urban design. Completed projects range in scale and program – from intimate and highly bespoke retail fit outs through to major infrastructure projects such as freeway sound walls – and can be found in urban, coastal, suburban and rural landscapes.

In addition to our substantial residential portfolio we have also completed projects for public sector clients including the Victoria Police, MFB, The Royal Botanic Gardens, DHS and DEECD. Key projects include Marysville and Carrum Downs Police Stations, the Visitors Center for the Australian Garden at RBG Cranbourne,Monash University Museum of Art & Ian Potter Sculpture forecourt. Recent residential projects include House at Big Hill and heritage apartments in the former Channel 9 studios in Bendigo Street, Richmond.

We have a significant portfolio of individual and multi-residential projects including Napier Street housing: a benchmark for medium density housing included on the Victorian Governments Good Design files. Commercial works include QV Pod H, a 27 level tower in Queen Street, Melbourne and a flagship store for Aesop. The practice also undertakes work in New Zealand where it has designed a boutique hotel in Queenstown and undertaken masterplanning for the University of Auckland.
