BOOK LAUNCH
38South Vol 3: Urban Architecture Laboratory, 2002-2004
Edited by Shane Murray and Nigel Bertram,
Melbourne: RMIT University Press
144pp, $35
The latest issue of 38 South was launched on Friday 1st July 2005 by Professor Leon van Schaik. This publication contains a wide range of urban architectural design research, essays by Shane Murray, Nigel Bertram and Kim Halik and research project work from 10 recent graduates of the UAL Master of Architecture program.
Analytical studies and design research projects focus on:
fast-growing new suburbs on the city’s growth boundaries (Caroline Springs, Melton, Langwarrin, Point Cook); established inner suburbs under development pressure (Footscray, Yarraville, Camberwell, North Melbourne); large suburban centres growing and changing (Frankston, Ringwood, Reservoir); and rural and regional centres redefining their roles (Ballarat, Geelong, Rainbow).
