Judges: photographer John Gollings, architect and writer Norman Day, architect Bridget Smyth and artist Callum Morton

A long-running campaign to showcase Australian architecture and encourage the replacement of the aging Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale has been reactivated with Venice Biennale New Australian Pavilion: Di Stasio Ideas Competition. In an open competition, conceived to add momentum to growing support for the replacement of the current building, architects were invited to submit a conceptual proposal of their vision for a new Australian Pavilion. The unrestrictive nature of the project has encouraged some radical architectural solutions and aims to excite the imagination of both the public and the authorities.

"Do Not Crop"
Annual Graduate Exhibition
ShowBox Gallery
National Design Centre

"What does a designer’s world look like?  The National Design Centre’s exhibition Do Not Crop showcases the work of design graduates of all disciplines from 2006 and 2007, highlighting the work they have produced since completing their studies."

Recent graduate Suzannah Waldron, with Nicholas Searle, reworked  her RMIT Architecture final year Major Project as a competition entry entitled Volume Up that was shortlisted as a First Round Winnner of the Mocape-Shenzhen International Museum of Contemporary Art & Architectural Planning Exhibition, Shenzhen Competition, China. Drawings and models of this project are featured in the "Do Not Crop" exhibition.

The  National Design Centre is the only major, public centre in Australia dedicated exclusively to design across all its disciplines. It is independent and self-funded, and initiates exhibition, publication, industry research and professional development projects that engage with the design profession, government, business and industry, educational institutions and the broader community, both within Australia and internationally.
