MELBOURE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL COMMISSIONED INSTALLATIONS
The Unused Exhibition
Urban Installations

Melbourne International Festival of the Arts, 2002
Venue: Lanes and passageways behind Storey Hall and RMIT Gallery, 344 Swanston St, Melbourne. Open 24 hours. Free.
In looking at architecture we often focus on the facade and the internal spaces. But what of the left-over bits - the unused yet necessary undercrofts, yawnings and gaps produced by the internal use and shape of buildings? The Unused evolves a number of architect and artist projects that inhabit these inhospitable spaces to create narratives and nuances that reflect upon economics, the collection and archive, the crime scene and social space.

Richard Black, RMIT Architecture
"Water Laneway"

Sand Helsel, RMIT Architecture
"Five Walks"

Charles Anderson, Landscape Architecture
"
